Headlining Stars Power the Las Vegas Strip with Major Star Wattage

The Rat Pack and Elvis are among the most iconic acts in the history of music, and both of them spent extensive periods of their career performing in front of adoring fans in Las Vegas. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop will forever be linked to Sin City, as they rocked sold-out showrooms at old-school and (long-gone) entertainment palaces like The Sands and The Dunes. The shows were such hot tickets that people would sometimes sleep in their cars if they couldn’t book rooms in Vegas just to be near that Rat Pack magic.

 

Elvis, for his part, Has Come to define Las Vegas in his own way. The undisputed King of Rock ‘n’ Roll sold out an astounding 837 straight shows at the Las Vegas Hilton and one of His Greatest hits, “Viva Las Vegas,” has stood the test of time to become the signature Sin City anthem. The connection to The King lives on to This Day as there are countless Elvis impersonators performing in town while Cirque Du Soleil’s latest hit, “Viva Elvis” is a tribute to the great star and rock pioneer’s legacy.

 

People often say that “they don’t make ‘em like they used to” when talking about today’s music stars, young and old. While it’s true very few musicians, bands or personalities will ever reach the level of fame that The Rat Pack and Elvis did in their heyday, there are still an amazing group of legendary stars who now call Vegas their home as they perform in residency shows in the grandest casinos that Vegas has to offer today.

 

Donny and Marie Osmond Have Been performing in Vegas for their entire careers. Donny’s very first performance was at The Sahara when he was just seven years old, and Marie sang with her brother for the first of many times in their long career at Caesars Palace, way back in 1973. Now the brother and sister duo are starring in their first Vegas residency show in 29 years at The Flamingo, where You Can see the depth of their talent as they sing hits like “Morning Side of the Mountain,” “Deep Purple” and “May Tomorrow Be a Perfect Day.”

 

You can see another All Time legend across the street at Paris, where Barry Manilow has been delighting his most passionate “Fanilows” with his career spanning resident show performances. The singer takes sold out crowds on a Journey Through his legendary songbook, which includes an unbelievable 25 straight top 40 hits. Manilow performs crowd-pleasers like “I Write the Songs,” “Looks Like We Made It,” “Copacabana (At the Copa)” and “Mandy” with the same sense of showmanship that he’s brought to the stage for more than 35 years and made him a superstar.

 

Youngsters looking for an icon have to look no further than The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, where Tiesto, considered by many to be the greatest DJ in the world, performs a monthly residency in the resort’s concert venue, The Joint. The DJ creates propulsive beats and an electric energy that make his montly performances the hottest party in town.

 

Garth Brooks retired from performing about a decade ago, hanging up his iconic black cowboy hat in order to spend time with his family. When Steve Wynn, who doesn’t Know How to take no for an answer, approached the most successful solo recording artist of all time about performing a residency show at his hotel, all it took was a private jet that could take him home to his wife and kids once he finished performing. Garth realized it was an offer too good to turn down, and now he’s performing a series of always sold-out shows that people travel from All Over the world to experience. While his concerts were once known for their electric energy, Garth’s shows at Wynn are more stripped down, intimate affairs featuring just the star, his guitar and his hits. Wynn himself describes the shows as the “equivalent of being in his Living Room.”

 

And one of the biggest stars of all time is returning to Vegas. During Celine Dion‘s initial five year run at Caesars Palace from 2003-2007, the pop diva sold out nearly every performance and 3 million people saw her belt out her hits on the stage the Colloseum. After taking a break to tour the world and spend time with her family, Celine is back at Caesars with a brand new show. The gorgeous visuals are designed to evoke the romance of classic Hollywood as the superstar belts hits like “Because You Loved Me,” “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” and “My Heart Will Go On,” backed by her band and a full orchestra. Celine’s ability to sell out every show for years during her residency proves that there are still some stars left with the drawing power of the classic stars of old-time Vegas.

These big name headliners in Las Vegas play to sold out crowds of adoring fans and cover every genre You Could imagine, but all of them are have one thing in common; by bringing their iconic and legendary star wattage to The Strip, they’re all continuing the tradition that Elvis and The Rat Pack started.

Music Grants for Schools

Some schools give programs on music education on a very low budget. The instruments for the music education is so high in price, so if your school need financial aid for purchasing musical instruments or developing programs for musical education, then You Might want to think of getting music grants for schools. The grants can be obtained from government or private companies.

There are some music grants available.

1.      Mockingbird Foundation

This foundation gives music grants for schools and non profit organizations. The programs funded by this foundation are specialized on education of music including Sheet Music, the space for office material and performance, and music and creative expression. Children under the age of 18 are the targets but the foundation is considering music grants for adults, college students, and instructors of music. The low-income kids, disabled children, students who have terminal diseases or students who are in the shelter, prisons, hospitals, or foster houses are the focus of this foundation.

2.      Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation

The funding will be given to K-12 music programs which are available during the school days. There are two ways to get this grants, either your school should show the need neither for financial support nor by becoming the number 1 titled school. The school Should Have had musical instruments; the organization will give funds to do repairs on the instruments. The request for the music grants should not over $10,000. The financial help will also be given for students who are in the grades of 8 to 12 who Are Not able to buy instruments. They should Have Been 5 years experience on the instrument. The foundation also gives financial aid for low-income students who do after-school music programs.

3.      Save the Music

VH1 is the founder of this nonprofit institution which gives education in music and increase the understanding of education of arts. To give education of music for children who are underprivileged is their main ideas. The grant is around $30,000 worth of new musical instruments for elementary and middle schools such as guitars, keyboards, strings, and other instruments of music. This music grants package has special number of instruments.

4.      Librace Foundation

The foundation gives financial aid to schools, particularly accredited colleges and universities. The music grants should be used to pay tuition for scholarships. The foundation opens new applications every year, usually on March and requires biography of the students.

5.      Reading, Writing, and Rhythm

This grant is also known by the name of The Chely Wright Foundation what gives musical instruments to schools that are located in the rural areas. The form is provided online, if You Are interested.

6.      Government Grants

The government grant on music grants is managed by the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities, which give grants for arts communities and education programs. The governments focus on increasing the programs and students of arts.
